April BOM and it's no fools joke either!

Hello everyone!

Thank you for being so patient with me!  I would like to link up to Confessions of a fabric addict for Whoop Whoop it's Friday, be sure to check out all the other posts Here and also to A Quilted Passion for Whoomp there it is linky party! So let's party on and check outAll the blog action here

So onto the business for our Block of the month, this time you will need two fabrics

These are my selections for my blocks, remember I am doing one by hand and one my machine.

This month I have chosen to do the 7 Grid Chain.   It has a 9 patch in the centre and it has four patches and rectangles to make up the block.  This will make a wonderful quilt almost like an Irish chain if you only use the one block throughout a quilt.

Now for Cutting Instructions:-

From these fabrics you will need to cut the following
From your background 4  (4" X 5.75") and 12 (2.25" squares)
From your main fabric you will need 13 (2.25" squares)

Now let's get to laying them out
This will be my hand pieced one and as I am a day late and have had a house full of illness all week I will update the blog in the next couple of days with this block.
Firstly piece your four patches and nine patches together so it looks like this
Then we piece these units into rows and then the rows into a block to have it look like this
This is our finished block and the following photo is all of the machine pieced blocks so far.  I'm excited how these are coming together.

Now I have been busy and piecing lots of things since I have hurt my wrist.   So next week is a week of pattern writing and the launching of my website!  I am so excited that I am doing the happy dance and able to use my wrist much much more.   I have even started doing my hand quilting again!

Now please tell me what are you happy about this week!  I love to hear from you all, so don't forget to leave a comment and I promise I will find time to do a couple more blog posts this week with all the exciting things I have been working on over the last three weeks.

So have a wonderful weekend and I hope you enjoy this block like I have.

Keep on smiling as you keep on creating,

Wendy.

Bushman's city visits

Hello Everyone!

I seem to have been missing in action!  Unfortunately the last quilt I have just finished you will have to wait about three weeks before I can possibly show you.  All I can say is I am excited.

This week looks like it will be a binding week for my three finishes for this year!  Whoop whoop! and a Whoomp!

But lets see what the main concentration is on at the moment!  I am loving this range and it is Melba from Emma Jean Jansen!  If you do not know who she is, take a look at her website, Im sure you will agree she is a wonderful Australian designer and her fabric ranges are superb, just take a look!

Bushman City Visits Quilt
I have designed this pattern last year and it was using a flower range and I wanted to try it with some of our wonderful Australian flowers.  The block I designed I have named Rhonda's love, dedicated to a loving quilting friend who left this earth last year.
The Pattern for this quilt will be available as a PDF download or as a booklet later this month on my new and upcoming website!  I am so excited with the little things I will be offering to everyone

close up of the quilting design
I decided that this quilt needed some curves added in so with a bit of a twist I opted for a spiral, in each block and it is giving the whole quilt a wonderful look.  I am using Aurifil 12 wt thread and a small Shashiko needle for the hand quilting.

here is the quilt after a few rows were completed.
another close up of the work with my trusty clover adjustable thimble
At this stage it looks like this quilt will be taken off the frame on Monday some stage.  The latest will be Tuesday.  I am then planning on binding these two and finishing some background quilting on another before binding.   My quilting area also needs a new tidy and reorganisation for the coming year.  I have found these really cool containers that fit perfectly in my shelves around my sewing table that hubby made.  So next week I will take before and after photos for you.   I will also reveal a few fabrics that will be cut up during the year and made into more quilt tops to come to life.
New fabric brings excitement
I am showing you my latest fabric to the stash.  It is this years Kona colour of the year called Highlight.  Its just an awesome yellow and I can't wait to start to put together the top with these lovely charm packs by Moda:- LOL by Me and My Sister Designs
Dot Dot Dash by Me and My Sister Designs
                                                  Sanibel by Gina Martin

These little mug rugs are well on their way to their destination!

This is a Block of the month quilt I started in 2013
This lovely Quilt is now ready for basting and quilting.  It has been a ufo since end of 2013.  I started this with Quilting Facebook group.  I am so pleased that it is now ready for quilting.  Earlier this year I did a free motion quilting course and am looking forward to quilting something fun on this!  I'm literally doing a happy dance! Whoop Whoop!

Nanny's Special quilt - Be sure to read her blog post in the link!  Its well worth it!

Now this special quilt has special meaning to me and another online friend Ineke!  Nearly two years ago it was a hot night here in Australia and we were chatting late.  We decided to send another online selfless friend a birthday surprise as she was always doing stuff for others and not for herself.  Then we hatched an idea to get a few more of ours and her friends to send her some love to... I will let you read all about it here for a warm buzz!

One of my Ufos coming close to a finish

almost there but had to have an affair with Jack the Ripper
Then lastly this is my latest quilt top coming together!  I did this with a local group as a mystery in August.  I am very happy to be up to the borders.  Be sure to check in soon and see the finished result!  Today I am linking with Confessions of a Quilt Addict aka Sarah to do a Whoop Whoop
So be sure to go and have a look at all the eye candy over there!

Until the next couple days take care and have fun quilting or creating!

Whooping for finishes!

Happy Valentines Day!

I have had a wonderful day today.  So my first whoop is for this little top which I have finished.  It is called Samples of Summer, I have designed and made this quilt for beginner quilters in mind although I think most people will love it.  It came together easily and has lots of elements which will make it a great quilt to tutor with.  Classes will be held at Palm Beach Quilting in March, so give the girls a call and book a place for fun and frivolity in quilting
Samples of Summer

Because it is Valentines Day I thought I would share some hearts and quilty love with you all.

This is a quilt I made my eldest daughter when she went to university

This is my latest finish and my youngest daughters quilt as she is at university now

Finally as I am gaining control over all of my projects and my ever changing life I feel like I can do a big whoop and link up with Confessions of a fabric addict for her Whoop Whoop

Whooping because another UFO has become my next PhD!

Finally can say I am happy with another project coming out of the cupboard and getting close to a finish
What was sitting unfinished

I started this project last year, it was my Facebook quilting groups BOM for 2013.  I was doing really well and keeping up to date until
August came along.  I didn't want to piece this block the same so the whole project became shelved.

start of August Block

Ready for appliqué to be stitched

love this
This year I decided to try Steam a seam 2 and this is the first project I have managed to use it for and WOW! This is worth a big WHOOP!

another block in the making

love this grateful heart block

who doesn't need tolerance to gain peace

and just have fun

Ready for the sashing
So as you can see I have these blocks ready to finish the appliqué and then I plan on giving this quilt a star sashing, which will be fun and I am hoping to be doing a Whooping dance!

For my other Whoop - I have almost finished my Celtic Solstice mystery quilt by Bonnie Hunter, I have changed a few of the colours and the border.  I am so excited and really would love to show you the quilt now but I think it deserves its own blog.  The biggest whoop is the extra fabic I have chosen for the border and the surprise that will be for you all,  is on it's why to me now.  If I am really lucky I will be able to have this off my list this month.

I have also made my coasters for a special friend but unfortunately I cannot show a photo until she recieves them.  I am linking this blog for a big whoop with Confessions of a fabric Addict

Now that I have caught up with a lot of my things, I will have time to give you an update of all of the happenings here at Wehago Designs.  I encourage you all to click and follow me either on bloglovin or by email, I have some very exciting things coming which I would like you to join me with.  Having a giveaway to all of my readers in the middle of July,  So tell me what are you whooping about today and don't forget to join up so you don't miss a post?

Have a wonderful Whoop,

Wendy

Friday's Happy Dance (Whoop Whoop)

my latest Whoop!

What a wonderful Friday it was, hubby and I went and did our usual weekly grocery shop but before that we decided to stop at a couple of hardware Stores.  This is where my Whoop Whoop started!

I had wanted a mobile box to put my sewing machine and tools in to take to class and i decided that maybe a toolbox would be a great thing rather than the soft boxes that are sold for this purpose and of course these are normally a third of the price of the official sewing machine caddies on wheels.

this is it! Whoop
Imagine my delight when the box I thought would work was on sale for $50.  So we decided to give it a try!  As we were leaving the store the sales assistant told us if it doesn't work bring it back!  Another whoop! This wouldn't be a waste of money if it didn't work

So after putting the groceries away we went to try and fit the machine in knowing that it was going to be a tight fit.  First owe thought this was going to be returned,  then we realised that i could take of the cotton reel to make it work for me.  I was all prepared construct a little pocked with velcro attached to the handle to hold it.  Then the real WHOOP WHOOP happy dance happened as we realised that the underneath of the trays could be trimmed!

Like This, Whoop!

Now my machine fits perfectly and I have plenty of room for all sorts of things. I have lovely little boxes which can be filled with cotton, scissors, jack the rippers and lots of fabrics.  With my ruler and other things snug in the bottom I will now be able to go to craft groups easy with just one walk into class without a juggling act!

Next Week will be a fun trip to classes and groups!  Whoop Whoop!

My other Whoop for Friday is that I have entered Gelato into the Spring Bloggers Quilt Festival in the Hand Quilting Section and would love it if you could  find a couple of minutes to go and vote for me here at Amy's blog, thank you!
this is my entry! whoop whoop!

So this is my whoop and I am linking today with Confessions of a Fabric Addict,
I hope you are having a fabulous time and doing the happy dance with me.

I would love to hear what is making you go Whoop Whoop for a happy dance.

So until next time, enjoy life,

Wendy
