Slow quilting at the frame

Today I have been able to return to my quilting at the frame for love calms the sea.  It is certainly a different process quilting at the frame to in the hoop.  For me I much prefer quilting on the frame, I do know that others struggle with this process but since I have adapted to quilting away from me with my thumb i believe I can get a more even stitch plus it seems to be quicker.  I am using my much loved aurifil 28wt to hand quilt with and I just can't say how much I love using this thread.

I have also been busy cooking today, I managed to do two loaves of bread and some bread rolls along with date and nut loaves.  It has certainly been a productive day even if it is a slow stitching Sunday and I am glad to share this Post with  Kathy.

So until next time have a wonderful Sunday and enjoy your slow stitching,

Wendy.

  1. Nothing better than fresh homemade breads ... unless it's homemade breads AND some hand quilting! Sounds like a wonderful Sunday to me.

  4. I think it depends on the pattern you are quilting whether or not to use a frame or a hoop. I recently took a small quilt off my frame and am using a hoop as the quilting pattern has many twists and turns. I too can quilt away from me with my thumb but I needed to be a contortionist for this quilt. I am so much happier having it in my lap.
Incidentally, my mouth is watering for all of your beautiful breads and rolls.

    1. Cathie, I have just finished a small one I did in my hoop, I mentioned it to hubby last night how I was more comfortable at he frame now, his answer was well, just quilt big quilts!

  5. I love making homemade bread but have no self control and then I end up with too many carbs in my diet, so I try to keep it to pizza dough once a week, it is tradition at my house. Your storm at sea is going to be spectacular. I think we all like the method that we practice with most, so for me its a round hoop.

  9. I'd love to try quilting on a frame and learn to quilt away from me. Now, where would I put a frame...maybe I'll be sticking to the hoop for a while! You seem to have quite a good start on this quilt.

  10. I have adapted really well to quilting away from me. I had a bit of this quilt done before I had to continue my miniature in the hoop
